Sometime in 1983, I partnered with my father and we developed a 13-acre piece of property across the street from Lakeside Storage to build my “dream business” which was Lakeside Campground. Since that was the year of the flood and the Utah State Park and boat harbor were under water we had no traffic on West Center street so we needed to advertise to get customers to come to our business from I 15. When I attempted to rent Billboards sadly couldn’t find any available so decided to build my own since I had built a few back in 1965 to advertise some student housing we had built in Provo. Of course, that was before all the State and Federal controls on advertising were instituted in 1968 called the Highway Beautification Act by LadyBird Johnson.
